Hello Group, I'm a newbie trying to manage his first install of Solaris 10. (My system runs on windows xp, service pack 2) I downloaded 5 zip files from the site www.sun.com. All of the zip files have the correct md5 checksum. I then unzip them with winzip version 8.1. Next, I use 'copy /b sol-10-GA-x86-dvd-iso-a + sol-10-GA-x86-dvd-iso-b + sol-10-GA-x86-dvd-iso-c + sol-10-GA-x86-dvd-iso-d + sol-10-GA-x86-dvd-iso-e sol-10-GA-x86-dvd-iso.iso' at the command line to create one iso dvd image. This iso file fails the md5 checksum. I've used a command line version of md5 and a windows program called 'Advanced checksum verifier'. The new generic name to encompass AMD64 & Intel EM64T CPU's, but not IA-64/Itanic CPU's. (The file names and flags in Solaris & Sun Studio mostly use the 'AMD64' term though, since it was there when the work was done and Intel was not yet supporting it - plus all our x86 hardware is actually from AMD now.) -- ________________________________________________________________________ Alan Coopersmith * [email protected] * [email protected] * Working for, but definitely not speaking for, Sun Microsystems, Inc. Booted on a 256mb p3 800 system but it doesn't seem able to find either a 3com 3c509 nor a Relaltek rtl-8229(as). Linux 7.1 works with either board, and fbsd 5.2 worked with the 3com also. (Didn't try fbsd with the realtek). I will now swap disks on this system ( 1.5 gb AMD 1900) which runs Fedora Core and XP, and give it a try. -- Chuck Forsberg [email protected] www.omen.com 503-614-0430 Developer of Industrial ZMODEM(Tm) for Embedded Applications Omen Technology Inc 'The High Reliability Software' 10255 NW Old Cornelius Pass Portland OR 97231 FAX 629-0665 Wed, 15 Aug 2007 13:16:34 GMT. It installed on the AMD system. Apparently it doesn't like Pentium III or something in that particular motherboard. Now - how do I get Solaris 10 NFS to mount a Linux file system (Fedora Core 3)? I get a cryptic 'mount: not user' message. FreeBSD, SCO Unix, and Linux have no problem mounting the same file system. -- Chuck Forsberg [email protected] www.omen.com 503-614-0430 Developer of Industrial ZMODEM(Tm) for Embedded Applications Omen Technology Inc 'The High Reliability Software' 10255 NW Old Cornelius Pass Portland OR 97231 FAX 629-0665 Wed, 15 Aug 2007 16:25:43 GMT. There is some strangeness in the TCP stack it seems. If ACPI is broken on your motherboard, just disable it.
